In the Cloud, high quality WAN connectivity can be essential
The choice and performance of the company network can affect competitiveness.
High quality WAN connectivity (point-to-point link via a rented copper or fiber optic line) ensures an effective delivery of VoIP, smooth video streaming and large file transfer times that don’t jeopardise productivity.
On the other hand, with a fast WAN network available over the internet, the need to have your own dedicated WAN is less pressing. It is now possible to use an encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) over the internet instead. This solution, while cheaper, has the disadvantage of a lower quality of service and, as a general rule, lower rate of availability.
